A Bundt cakeGerman: Gugelhupf is a cake that has a specific shape. Once upon a time, there was a small cake batter and a child – perhaps you – had mixed almost single-handedly, which was then poured into a Bundt cake pan. Now it was ready for baking and was placed in the oven, where it had to bake for a while. When the time was up, it had to be taken out of the oven to cool down and then flipped over to get it out of the pan. If you’ve ever baked a cake, you probably know that this is a tricky business; sometimes it’s easy and the cake looks beautiful, but sometimes only half of the cake comes out and the other half simply sticks to the pan, and the cake no longer looks pretty.

And you see, dear child, that’s how it is with us humans too! We were all like soft cake batter, poured into our mold and placed in the oven to bake. That was our life, and it wasn’t always easy. But now the “baking time” is over, and we are supposed to be “flipped” out of the mold. But due to our long “baking time in the dark oven” we have forgotten that we are not the mold (our physical body), but our new, much subtler body, which no longer needs the outer shell.

Some people know this very well and are happy when they are finally freed from their restrictive form. Others think they are the form and therefore cling to it terribly. God, who is the great master baker, is now struggling to free these people from their shell; the tighter they cling, the more painful it becomes. So, dear people, finally let go, trust in God, and recognize the light that awaits you out there!
